Celestial I & II

I have begun to transfer my love of colour and texture by developing a range of canvas art for all types of interiors. I am introducing ' Celestial I & II ' - 2 unique pieces 70 x 130cm each that work as individual pieces or as a pair. You can have either piece to the left or right of each other - whatever works best for you! These are very special pieces as they are a pair of high quality wooden panel panels rather than just linen stretched over a stretcher frame. There is obviously a lot more weight to these two pieces compared to the weight of just using high end stretcher bars with quality linen or cotton canvas wrapped around. I have used acrylics, texture paste, silver leaf, metallic silver and rose gold spray. I have completed the pieces with some Matt Varnish for some added extra protection. Experimentation - Circular Panels

Birch plywood circular panels (40cm diameter) Having applied x3 layers of both Golden GAC 100 and Gesso to x3 circular panels, I am intending to experiment with resin, alcohol inks, texture paste as the base media. I will probably add some additional media along the way to add some 'bling' and further interest to these pieces. When preparing my artwork, I like to treat every stage of the process like it is the actual artwork - I do not like excess paint where it should not be... I like clean sharp lines as I feel going the extra mile in the preparing stages pays dividends when it comes to actually creating the artwork on the main front surface. To me, the actual panel structure is part of the artwork itself. I always want the finished artwork to look the best it can possibly look. I always use the best materials too, as I want to the artwork to stay as it was first intended many, many years into the future. Circular Wooden Panels - Exploring Resin & Alcohol Inks

https://richardbakerart.com As part of the circular series, I decided I wanted to explore texture paste (my usual go to media), but this time I wanted to also add some extra detail, so I turned to some sand that I had in my garage. I simply applied the texture paste and sprinkled the sand on in various places – making some areas more denser than others. I then let this dry and brushed the excess sand away. I then applied some acrylic paint and tried to merge a small amount of colours together to form a gradient. I wanted to do this as the colours would form the very base colour of my final piece. I taped up the circumference to contain the resin, that I would be adding to the surface (I do not like to be messy!) A close up detail of the painted sand I then decided I would start adding some clear resin and so I firstly taped up all the way around the circumference.
